Short Form of the PTSD Checklist - Civilian Version

SCORING YOUR RESULTS

This six-item screen was derived empirically from the PCL-C (Weathers et al., 1994) for use in primary care settings. It contains the two items from each of the re experiencing, avoidance, and hyper arousal clusters that correlated most highly with the individual cluster score on the PCL-C.

Respondents rate items on a five-point scale (ranging from 1 = "Not at all" to 5 = "Extremely"). The authors suggest a cutoff score of 14. Those screening positive should then be assessed with a structured interview for PTSD.
